Mario Party Superstars is the twelfth official installment in the Mario Party series, the second released on the Nintendo Switch (following Super Mario Party), and the third unnumbered installment in the main series (following the original Mario Party and aforementioned Super Mario Party).
Superstars took Super Mario Party's goal of taking the series back to its roots and ran further with it. All five of the game boards are taken from the first three installments of the Mario Party series and all 100 minigames are taken from the first ten official installments of the Mario Party series, similarly to Mario Party: The Top 100.

Mario Party Superstars was announced during Nintendo's E3 of 2021 but Daisy was not seen in any promotional clips or videos until the Nintendo Direct of September 23, 2021, when she was shown in a group shot with the other playable characters.
This game marks Daisy's fourteenth appearance in the Mario Party series. She is one of the ten playable characters in this game.
